The excellence of rice

Riseria la Pila was established as a cooperative in 1987 by 12 rice-producing agricultural companies in the lower Verona area with the aim of jointly processing and marketing the paddy rice produced, bringing a very high-quality rice to the market.

In 2016 the company was transformed into an Agricultural Company and this allows for greater integration with the member and contributing agricultural companies.

One of the Member Agricultural Companies stands out for its long and qualified experience as a seed breeder whose production allows all Members to have particularly selected seeds, immune from new weeds, certainly not contaminated by genetically modified seeds and capable of maintaining the purity of rice seeds: Vialone Nano, Carnaroli and Arborio.
Riseria la Pila owns approximately 600 hectares of rice fields, equal to over a third of the entire rice-growing area of the province of Verona, one of the main ones in Italy; la Pila is the only significant company capable of producing exclusively its own rice with both Controlled and Guaranteed Supply Chain Traceability and IGP.
Riseria la Pila has collaborated with the Consortium for the Protection of Vialone Nano Veronese Rice, managing to characterize and certify the production, obtaining recognition from the EEC of the Protected Geographical Indication – IGP

The company holds the first recognition in Italy of Riso Nano Vialone Veronese IGP

Riseria la Pila, to control and guarantee the quality of the product along the entire supply chain, has recently completed the new structure with considerable financial commitment from itself and the Veneto Region, always attentive to supporting initiatives aimed at safeguarding and enhancing the typical products of the Veneto.

The Riseria la Pila plant, located in Isola della Scala (in the heart of the lower Verona area), an area highly suited to the production of Riso Nano Vialone Veronese PGI, allows:

• Receiving over 3,500 tons of paddy rice

• The daily drying of about 200 tons of paddy rice

• The storage of paddy rice in 29 silos with a product refrigeration system and continuous thermo-hygrometric control

• Packaging in PE bags in protective atmosphere and in vacuum-packed bricks with a capacity of over 3,000 tons of white rice

The husking and packaging lines have all the most modern requirements such as optical rice control and metal detector.

Riseria la Pila has recently installed a photovoltaic system for the production of clean electricity from renewable sources while respecting the environment, as the Company is aware that the conservation and protection of the environment is essential for the quality of life.
All this is in line with the Company Mission: "To process and enhance the paddy rice produced by the members by bringing to the market a high quality rice with traditional processing and guarantees superior to those offered by the most qualified competition".
The claim included in the logo perfectly summarizes the work that Riseria la Pila carries out for its Consumers: “Certified and Verifiable Supply Chain from Seed to Packaging”.
