MARSALA - Fine Amber Dry - The Lands
Classification : fortified wine with controlled designation of origin
Origin : province of Trapani, Marsala and Mazara del Vallo countryside
Climate : Mediterranean, mild winters, limited rainfall, very hot and windy summers
Soil : medium texture, slightly clayey, a few metres above sea level
Harvest : traditional, manual
Grapes : Catarratto, Grillo and Insolia
Vinification : maceration of the grapes and fortification with alcohol from wine aged for at least 2 years in oak barrels
Ageing : 50 and 20 hl oak barrels for over 12 months
Alcohol content : 17% vol
Color : intense amber
Aroma : Ripe fruit, with clear hints of cherries, plums and figs
Taste : sweet, warm and harmonious, with a slight aftertaste of aged wine
Pairing : excellent as an aperitif; exhilarating with chocolate desserts, baked goods and dried fruit
Service : dessert glass, temperature 12° – 14° C
