The Cusmai family was born with Puglia in the heart, its magic under the skin. Men and women with their hands dirty with earth and their eyes full of that suspended light that only those who are already awake at the crack of dawn are lucky enough to know. Our story is made up of sun, passion, sweat and tables in the shade of the olive trees, where great-grandfather Salvatore told of how he bought the farm in 1925, from the cousin of the royal senator Benedetto Croce, and where a young grandmother Grazia already brought to the table the simple flavors of the earth, grown a few steps further on and processed according to tradition. A history made of powerful but also delicate fragrances, of a nature that offers ever-changing spectacles, of intense colours, of rough flavours, of seasonal cycles and above all of lifestyles linked to folklore and ancient customs. And so, the love for biodiversity and sunny landscapes, for waking up at dawn breathing in the scent of the countryside – with its olive trees, vineyards and tomato plants – the genuine peasant simplicity, have passed from generation to generation, giving life to a real company that looks to the future by offering flavors and knowledge of the past. Today we are leading the Cusmai company: Nicola, Riccardo and Gianfranco, together with our parents Maria and Salvatore (grandson of great-grandfather Salvatore), uncles Nunzia and Sabino and grandmother Grazia, the pillar around which everything gravitates, the historical memory of the family and the guardian of our recipes. Recipes that we savoured as children and that we now make with love, experience and care, always under the strict supervision of grandma, to offer everyone not only the experience of bringing a taste of Apulia to their table, but also to become protagonists of a story made of craftsmanship and a return to the origins.
