Original Marimo in Feng Shui Jar

Marimo, also known as love seaweed, is a true symbol of love, deep affection, sincere feeling, esteem and respect. The story tells of a couple of lovers who took refuge on the shores of Lake Akan, the only place where these algae are born, to escape their families who wanted them separated. Their two hearts transformed into Marimo to live their love forever. Marimo live over 200 years and grow 5 millimeters every year! A peculiarity is their dance: with daylight they will be able to create numerous spheres of oxygen, visible to the naked eye. During chlorophyll photosynthesis, which will make the algae float inside its container. This movement is called “the Marimo dance”. By adding a little sparkling water every now and then, the Marimo dance will be even more lively! The scientific name is Aegagropila linnaei and it is a multicellular alga. Its name comes from the union of two words, MARI which means marble and MO which means aquatic plant and was given to it in 1820 by the Japanese botanist Kawakami who discovered it.
