Grecomusc’

The native white grape variety, formerly known in Irpinia as "Grecomusc'," was officially listed in 2009 among the native Italian grape varieties as "Rovello" or "Rovello bianco." The name coined by local winemakers is associated with the more famous "Greco" grape variety, although it has no genetic relationship with it. It has simply been used for a long time as a blending grape for Greco. Rovello bianco grapes have medium-sized, loose clusters, and the berries have the unique characteristic that the skin grows disproportionately compared to the inner pulp, thus creating the unmistakable appearance of a soft, "Grecomusc'" grape. This creates a solid/liquid ratio disadvantageous to the latter, resulting in vinification conditions with low liquid yield. The Lonardo family has succeeded, through years of trials and selection, in leveraging these characteristics to produce a truly unique wine with an unmistakable character that fully reflects the production philosophy of the company and its technicians, focused on producing wines that express the territory and productive personality to the fullest.
